EARTH - by Aleksander Dovzhenko (1930)

Aleksander Dovzhenko’s last silent film is generally regarded as his greatest masterpiece. EARTH was simultaneously lauded and derided by Soviet authorities due to its fairly ambiguous political message which was perhaps a salute to Alexander Kerensky who was often described as a follower of Henry George. EARTH was named as one of the top ten greatest films of all time by the International Film Critics Symposium.
